Here is the illustration by André Mata commissioned by the Writer's of the Future contest for my story, "The Tiger and the Waif." An android kitten comes to life in the ruins of Los Angeles. In the rubble, it encounters an orphaned girl and must choose between its own freedom and saving her life. The story appears in Volume 37 of the Writers and Illustrators of the Future anthology, which goes on sale November 2nd.
