Jarrid Cantway has collected writing tips from thirty-six past winners of the Writers of the Future contest in a blog post he calls How to Win the Writers of the Future Contest. I contributed a section describing my writing journey that let to winning my first-place prize of $1000 for my story, "The Tiger and the Waif." It appears in Volume 37 of the Writers of the Future anthology. Other contributors include Martin L. Shoemaker, who has been nominated for a Nebula award, and Eric James Stone, who is a Nebula winner and Hugo award nominee. For fledgling science fiction and fantasy writers, this post is an entertaining collection of encouraging tips.
