Writers of the Future Awards Gala

Updated: Aug 27, 2022

The Writers of the Future Volume 37 releases today on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. My story, "The Tiger and the Waif," is featured first in the book, which I'm told is a prime position. The story won first place in the Writers of the Future contest for the fourth quarter of 2020. Three places are awarded each quarter (out of thousands of entrants), so the twelve winners are published in the annual anthology, along with stories and articles by Orson Scott Card and other established science fiction and fantasy writers.

The award also included a week in Los Angeles where the authors attended writer's workshops with the judges from the contest. The week culminated with a Hollywood awards gala. You can see the gala here where my acceptance speech occurs around minute 20:

I had a lot of fun interacting with the other authors for this once-in-a-lifetime event (winners are no longer eligible for future contests). If you like science fiction (or you know someone who does), I encourage you to buy the book.
